Hi guys,

I recently bought an Innova 3130c scan tool. Connected it to the 96 Civic and it read everything masterfully.
Erased the cat code and am able to read RT data. Nice! I tried to connect the scan tool to my 2017 Accord
and my mother's 2012 Lexus. I was not able to establish a communications link w/ either vehicle.

Thinking a s/w update was needed, I called Innova tech support. The rep said that I did not need an update;
that device should be able to communicate w/ 2017 Hondas (and 2012 Lexi). He suggested I remove the
batteries from the device and verify that a link was being established by virtue of the car's electrical system
supplying the power to run the scan tool. I have not tried this yet. He also suggested that I have the engine
running and then connect the device to the OBD2 scan port. Typically, the iggy switch is switched to the
ON configuration prior to scan tool connection.

Any suggestions as to why a communications link cannot be established despite following the operator's
manual?
