I'm SCARED>>
hey guyz, after installing my iceman inatke, my noraml idle is about 200. i'm nervous that this is goign to damage the engine some how? is this true? i reset the ECU twice, and it still is this low. people told me not to mess with the idle adjuster cuz it might make it wrose? what the heck should i do"? thanx guyz
thanx for the reply, i'm not doubting you, but since i'm not on this board too much, how much extensive knowledge do you have of this IACV? also, could u post some directinos or something as to how to properly do this? i'm very parniod about messing something up and kinda engine illeriate. so could u please help me out? thanx for you time
its safe to up the idle. Its not goint to mess anything up. You can always change it back. I think you have to set a service jumper before you do, but im not sure. Consult your service manual for the proper procedure.
Damn man, if you are that scared of your car WTF are you doing under the hood at all? Maybe you should have paid somebody to put that silly plastic tubing in there.

How are you resetting your ECU? IF you're doing it right, here's what to do the first time you start it:
Start the car
Don't touch the gas pedal
let it idle until warm, or roughly 5 minutes if it's already warm
turn on the A/C, let it idle like that for roughly 5
turn on the rear defrost, idle
turn on headlights, idle
turn everything off, one at a time
idle for another minute or two
shut the car off (remember don't touch the gas)
start the car back up, and drive it around.. see if that helps it out any
What this does is lets your car re-learn your idle settings so it won't die when extra load is on the motor(like the alternator load, or A/C compressor)
This is what I've heard, and it seems to work great.. I think the factory service manual says to do it that way as well.

BlackOutSi is in fact correct. Honda's run real lean at idle, and any load put on it will make the idle bobble. The ELD helps smooth things out here nicely.
But as someone eluded to earlier, it sounds like your scared to death of messing with your car and it sounds like you DON'T have a manual....so you might want to re-think your decision to mess with your car, as being "engine illiterate" will probably lead to an "engine illiterate with a non-working engine".
Yeah, we all had to start somewhere, and I'm not getting on you about f*cking with your ride....but you should read up some more before doing anything else.
Get a Helms manual for your car (see link in sig) and just start reading threads relating to your ride...via the search button.
