im new please help. problem with motor
ok first off im new here and im looking for any help would be awesome. well heres my problem, i had a very reputable engine builder build my motor and it came out great. he gave me a list of stuff to do upon the first start up and followed the list to exact detail other then the part about makin sure it wasnt rich. the motor is running very rich for some reason. and im afraid i might have "washed the rings out" as my engine builders puts. the car is running so rich it just poors out black smoke and is starting to smoke out the valve cover. i know thew motor is running rich because the plugs are black. i mean black. im running a stock pump, regulator, injectors, and ecu. and dont know why its running so rich. i pull the plugs and they are just covered in gas. im afraid to call my engine builder because im afraid of what he's going to say, lol. please help, Mike from the 631.
Need a lot more info, what car, what motor, also do the pump/injectors/regulator match the same year/model of car or not? Running rich can be a lot of things, check fuel pressure, check for stuck injector, ecu fuel maps, misfire, etc.
