Default ignition problems

when trying to start the car the acc. and the on position the interior and radio work . so i know it isnt the batt. but when i go to turn on the car it wont do anything at all. i think it is the ignition because i dont hear the starter or anything trying to turn over. if u have any suggestions on what it is please let me know.

if you dont hear the starter then either you
1. have a bad starter
2. have a bad connection to the starter power or signal wire
3. have a battery with enough power for the accessories but not enough CCAs to start the engine.

time to do some work.

If it's a standard, don't forget to check the clutch switch. Can you hear the relay click for the starter?

It's activated by the pedal. If you can hear the relay click for the starter then it is most likely not the clutch switch. Make sure it is indeed the starter relay you can hear - if you can hear it clicking on when you try to start the car then I would imagine the problem is the starter.

CHECK THE FUSE!!! THERE IS A FUSE FOR STARTER SIGNAL IN UR FUSEBOX IN DRIVER SIDE!!

sorry for the caps, but i had the EXACT same problem and i went crazy trying to fix it... 2 months later for a non related problem i found out it was the fuse..

EDIT: sorry, didn't read all the posts... If you hear one click but wont' turn over, it's definitely the starter... had same problem also... Get a starter w/ lifetime warantee cheap @ pepboyz

Alot of things will click when intially turning the key to start the car.. I.E. Starter Relay, Main Relay.. The audible click method is not a reliable source..

What is the condition of the key itself?.. worn?

You can apply voltage to the starter to see if it is initiating, this involves a peice of wire and about 30 seconds of your time..
