ignition problem??? help!
hey guys,
two mornings ago i started my car and after it turned over, the engine immediately shut down. then i tried to start it again and it worked fine. yesterday it happened again and seems to be a problem only when the car has been sitting for awhile and is cold. this morning when i started the car it did it twice and then finally stayed running on the third try. i am thinking that since the car is running fine in every other respect that there is something wrong with the ignition. a friend of mine had a very similar problem with his accord two weeks ago and the car ended up stalling out as he was going down the highway every few minutes. he eventually had to have something in his ignition replaced. is this a typical honda problem or just my dumb luck? thanks for any help you guys can give me.

had the same problem you're having, whereas i've heard from a few people that you're friend's problem is a more severe, longterm case of the same thing...this isn't for sure, but I think the problem is in the ignition sequence...there is a relay/solenoid that kicks in spark/fuel/etc right after the starter cranks the engine. when this thing gets old it quits working a lot of times...a common problem with hondas. i'm sorry i cant remember the name of the part it's either a starter or ignition solenoid/relay. hope that helps. i'll look at my service reciept when i get home and let you know what the name of it is.
