Default Ignition Coil testing?

Can I use an ohm meter to test my ignition coil??? I have a 94 Lude Si with the 2.3L. I am getting a lot of carbon out tha exhaust and it dont make my shiny Thermal exhaust look pretty. How do I test and what are the specs?

Off the top of my head (I did this last week), the primary winding coil should have a resistance of 1.5-3 ohms. The secondary winding coil (the tower) and the positive of the primary should register 16k ohms. You might want to use a digital voltmeter though... my analog one didn't twitch at all while trying the 16k ohms...
