Default idle and tailpipe sniffing AFR

Has anyone had any luck getting accurate idle AFR with a tail pipe sniffing rig? We have the innovate tail pipe clamp and LM1 but it's measuring in the 19:1 at idle. Would it help to extend the sniffter so it can be deeper in the exhaust? you can idle up to 3K rpm and it will go to 14.7 but does anyone have any suggestions on getting good idle readings with a clamp on wideband.

this is on a 3" tanabe exhasut on an evo IX, has a aem uego as well to compare readings they are both the same if the exhaust is flowing, but at Idle the aem reads 14.7 but the sniffer is not getting good readings.

Most likely you are getting the incorrect reading due to fresh air contamination due to the lack of back pressure in the exhaust at idle. Pushing the o2 sensor further in might help. But im sure you know tailpipe sniffers are less than ideal in measuring A/F ratios. Why not just go by the the UEGO says?

I bought the lm-1 for other cars that don't have bungs, I was just comparing it to my friends aem, and my plx M-500

as long as you know that the numbers the sniffer is giving at idle are incorrect. WOT will be fine the exhuast pressure is more than enough to keep any fresh air out.

I would think that almost every car has a o2 sensor bung on the exhuast. Im not sure how much you could extented it by. On a free flowing tailpipe im sure you could get it in pretty good but then you run the risk of melting the cable that goes in with it due to the added heat further in. And it wasnt designed to go that far in. It seems to me like it would become more hassle to rig up something. What are you trying to do with it?

just street tune some other cars (people that don't want to buy a wideband) , the wideband sensor dosn't fit through some stock o2 bungs too fat before the threads.
