my car is exhibiting idle problems when the AC is on, this problem recently occured the car never had any idle problem of any type before this. when i rev the car at dead stops with the AC on, the car would bog down to 100 rpm then recover at 500 rpm where it should always be, but when the car is in motion everything feels fine, no power loss, vtec feels fine, and also the idle sound a lil rough. what is going on?

im not the sharpest tool in the tool shed but id check the cap and rotor and even the spark plugs.....those things could be going bad

 

check your throttle cable too.

 

Clean your IAC valve? The ECU opens that in order to hold the idle steady when the AC clutch engages. Could be sticky or something - not working smoothly.

 

the IAC sounds real interesting. anymore thoughts on the IAC?

 

you could advance your ignition timing

 

I'm with him, My civic hatch did the same thing back in the day and I advanced the ingnition timing a hair and it idled as smooth as can be.

 

 

Well, did you check any of those things? Is your IAC valve dirty? Is your timing just a bit off? How old are your spark plugs? We're guessing blind until you tell us more.

 

i have this same problem in my civic, but when i drive with the ac on, i can feel a significant power loss. my car also idles horribly, maybe around 300...almost stalls when i rev it and let off, and my car is an automatic. any advice?
