As I wrote in another post, please do a search. I have replied to the same idle problem at least 10 times this week.

Check ignition timing? TIming belt off a tooth?
It realllllllly sounds like your IACV. Are you sure your not throwing a code when you jump the service connector? I had the problem too, and my car did not always throw a cel until I jumped the connector. How do you know if the IACV is in correct working order? Did you adjust the idle via idle screw? Check your compression? SMoke out of any parts/holes/crevices of the car? VACUME LEAKS? bent valves? Cracked sleeve? Thottle cable adjusted too tight which throws off the IACV? Air bubbles in coolant(could cause bad idle since idle is related to coolant temp), bad TPS?

These are all the things that crossed my mind when I had the same symptoms as you. Double check my list.

to test IACV, warm car up, pull off the harness on the back of IACV. if the idle does not fluctuate or stall the car, the IACV is bad

solution

clean it out with carb cleaner
or replace it.

thanks for the info

I think the timing is off, I am guessing that the index on the cam gear is

supposed to line-up with the mark on the white timing tab thing. Anybody know

for sure? I unplugged the IAC connector when the engine was warm and the idle

went down and almost died, so I am guessing it is not that.

Can anyone answer the timing question?
-thanks

for the timing, put piston 1 at tdc, or more accurate line up the white mark on crank pulley. Then make sure that the cam gears are both pointing up and slide the belt on. Then check ignition timing with timing gun.
