Ideal cable tranny set up
I have an LSD equipped Y1 tranny in my garage and a JDM S1 as well. the 2nd to 3rd gear synchros are worn in both trannies so I was going to have the synchros replaced. What would be the best end result for my LS/Vtec mortor if I could mix match the parts in the trannies? The S1 has closer gears and a 4.4 final drive, the Y1 has LSD and a 4.2 final drive. I was thinkig of putting an LS 5th in the tranny I use. What is my best choice for a tranny, the set up that wil make my car quicker?
Do you think Y1 with LS 5th and S1 fd? will that work? or is there an aftermarket final drive avaliable for cable trannies?
Thanks for any help you give.

Honestly, I'd stick with the y1 w/ lsd. There should be someone on this board that can get genuine jdm synchos for either tranny. I would not recommend putting in the LS 5th gear at all. Yeah, it saves you some gas mileage and your rpm's won't be too high on the freeway, but if you're in it for the speed, just try to shift from 4th to 5th and you'll see why. Anyhow, you're pretty local. Let me know if you need some help or what not. If you wanna sell one of those trannies, let me know. HTH
well since youre mixing up some gears i would probably go with the s1 tranny, while using the ls 5th, and the y1's LSD. Seems like that would make for a nice tranny. that would be decent on gas.
