Default IAT question

other than reporting intake manifold temp to the ECU.. what does the ECU use this info for? i heard.. but im not sure that.. the hotter the engine is.. or intake temp, it adjusts the timming? retards it for hot? or something? does anyone know the background of this sensor? and would it be possible to bypass it.. if timming was stright up all the time, that would be ok.

it adds fuel and adjust timing. MAP, tps, and iat all work together.

it's used to calculate the amount of air entering your engine. With the ECU knowing air temp (IAT), air pressure (MAP), and engine speed, it can calcuate the mass air flow. Some cars use a mass air flow sensor for this but honda calculates it. like stated above it then uses this info to adjust fule, and in an obd2 car also timing.
