Icon2 IACV question

1991 Honda Ef SI - D16z6

My idle has been irratic since I got my car.
Also my car has been slow on acceleration in low rpm's (until 3000rpms) then it drives normal.

So we unplugged the IACV and the idle was no longer irratic.. Then I adjusted the idle to 800rpm, it sat at it with no problems.. Then I plugged the IACV back in and the idle became irratic again.

My question is - do I need a new IACV?

some people have had good results cleaning their iacv with carb cleaner. it could also be the fitv, or some other vacuum leak.

Yes, if your idle is erratic with the IACV operating and fine when it's unplugged. that would indicate a problem with the IACV. If you have already tried cleaning it, replace it and it's gasket.
