IAC / Swap problems
tried to search for the answer, no luck! everyone try this one out!
setup:
99 dx hatch w/ b18c1 (wired with 99 Si hardness for plug and play!)
stock Si ecu and / or obd1 P72 w/ Hondata
this is my situation:
after a long delay for parts, i finally finished my motor build. install was no sweat. Using a 99Si hardness, everything was p&p but the IAT sensor. With the use of a stock Si ecu and everything ready for start-up (ie. fluids), i went for it! What did i get? NOTHING!! KOEO there was no fuel pump action but a funny noise from the Main Relay and IAC area. So thinking that it might be the Main Relay, i replaced it and tried it again. Same thing, nothing! This time I unhooked the IAC valve, because it was making funny noises, with the KOEO. After doing that, the fuel pumped kicked on and it primed the system! so this is the problem that I'm having, with the IAC valve plugged in and KOEO, i get nothing! With the IAC valve unplugged and KOEO, the fuel pump kicks on!
does anybody know why this is happening? or what to do to fix this?
p.s. -
i also had a spare IACV and tried that one too, same problem!!
same thing happens when i use the P72!
Also have tried 3 different main relays to see if thats the problem, no go!
Checked to see if there was a short/open on the blu/blk wire side of the IACV,
checked out ok!
anyone?

go over the iacv wires- make sure that the fact that the dx orig. had a 3 wire iacv is not causing a problem with your wire selection

i was told to use a 99-00 Civic SI wiring hardness which would not have this problem (2wire) ? everything should just be plug and play, correct (execept for the IAT sensor)? anything else? anyone?
thanks for the help

yes - so everything would be plug & play - no wiring - everything looks good, no cuts or tears

hmmmm... your using the si engine harness but with the dx main harness????
was your stock dx set up as a 3 wire?????
maybe the wires arenet going to the right places.... i know this is probaly hard to follow,
but i know when going with a mini me swap there is some sort of wire changing that has to be done with the iacv ....
do u have a helms manual??? find out which wire is supposed to go where, then use a multimeter to make sure its going to the proper ecu pinout...
not sure if this is right information, but its all i can think of at this point

thats why i'm using a 99-00 Si wiring hardness so i wouldn't have to rewire anything and it would be just P&P - the IACV wire to the ecu(blu/blk) is where it needs to be. its weird and i can't figure it out! thinking that it might be the ecu but its doin the same thing when i plug in the p72.

ok, im an sohc guy, so explain one thing to me- the si harness that you are using, is that going from the firewall area plugs to the motor, and the stuff inside the car, to the ecu, is all orig DX stuff? If this is the case, I know what the prob is, but need to clear up my confusion w/ the terms...

the Si hardness is all pluged to every sensor but the IAT sensor, which runs thru the firewall and plugs into the ecu (2 plugs, 3rd is body control plug) everything hooks up fine, thats why i got it so it would be P&P

just the si engine harness, all p&p
found out the problem, the ground for the engine harness on the t-stat houseing wasn't doin its job, so i had to run a new ground. finaly got it started last night
, runs strong like bull
!!
thanks to everyone for their time to help me out!!

Could you clarify what you exactly did. Did you use an SI engine harness and a DX (uh) main harness? And it worked? I wouldn't think the VTEC would work with a non-VTEC.

not only that, the wires in the DX main harness are setup for 3 wire IACV, with which the IACv pin swap needs to be performed. Also, the DX main has no knock sensor provision, but, you can use the extra wire left over from the 3 wire IACv to wire that up...at any rate, I can't make sense of any of this thread and I am happy the original postee got the car running properly...somehow.
I give up.

yep, si engine hardness - all P&P - don't forget to check your GROUNDS!!
