Default IAC????

I am getting a little idle fluctiation when i come to a complete stop.Sometimes it almost dies to where the battery light comes on.The battery and alternator have been checked and there fine. What i want to know is can i bypass the iac valve by cutting a peice of metal the same shape as the mating surface to the intake????and if i need to joining the two hoses together? It does to cold here in south carolina sometimes we see twenty degrees but not usually any lower.Ive heard it may rough idle first cranking it in the morning but after its warm its fine.if that is all the problems ill have i can deal with that. thanks for your help...

check your idle adjustment before you deem the iacv the problem. but for real its usually the iacv.
