I just bought an 2002 Rsx-S w/ 30k. How bad or should i even be hearing tapping from the engine bay??.... It's not loud at all but I'm not sure if its the valves tapping or some loose plastic? (The engine is covered w/ plastic stuff) Also the dealership filled it up with regular gas & not the premium. Gas is halfway empty, should I put an octane booster or just wait for the all the gas tank to be near empty & fill it up w/ 94 octane from sunoco?.......Is it even possible an almost brand new car without any mods at all to have its valves tapping?......thanks in advance for responses & help.

 

DON'T USE OCTANE BOOSTER the soft tapping could just be your injectors clicking

You know when you point a screwdriver tip to an fuel injector & listen to the ticking sound> that's what it sounds like.........but i'm wondering why is it loud, i mean comparing to not listening w/ a screwdriver???

 

when is the scheduled valve adjustment? 45k?

Also, I'd just go and fill the rest of your tank with premium, then keep topping it off.

 

The next valve adjustment according to the maintenance book is 120,000 miles, or close to that if im mistaken. The car is now at 30,000.
Isn't true tho that the car pings/taps when the wrong octane rate is put in.......I believe I have the 89 right now when its suppose to be 92 i believe.
Any help or opinions welcomed, TIA
