hydrolocked!! help me out!
Hey guys, basiclly i hydrolocked my motor. =[
I got the water out and the motor runs, but i get a clanking/knocking sound, not very loud but its always there and the compression on one of the cylinders is low. So im guessing that it is just a bent rod. i took the head off and the head is fine and the pistons look fine as well. the question i guess is for people who have experienced this before..what have you had to replace? i was going to replace the whole bottom end, but im thinking now of mabye just replacing the rods. because im kind of short on money and if that was the only problem it would help.

The lose of compression sounds more like a bent valve(s)...
Might try taking a screwdriver or short peice of hose, place the flat end or one end of the hose against the valve cover. Then place your ear against the handle, or other end of the hose, and listen while it's idling. See if the noise is coming from the valve train or deeper down in the engine.

Pull the head off and see if the piston in one of the cylinders doesn't make it all the way to the top. If it doesn't replace all the rods, If they are okay then It's probably one or more valves.
the noise is def. comming from deep in the engine.. i did take the head off and the cylinder that has lower compression doesnt make it as high as the others... so im guessing that i should be fine with replacing the rods, but can you just swap rods or are there other things you need to replace also when replacing them?
bent a rod.. did the smae thing... piston was scratched a bit but not the block, was the bottom of the block where the rod bent .. left a mark. get a rod and piston and your ok.

Hey, maybe this will help. I work at acura, and did a itr, ls, and a RL of all cars. I ended up putting a new short block in the itr, cause it broke 2 rods, and bent the crank. I ate the hell out of the block, it was garbage. I put a junk yard motor in the ls, and kept the old motor. A friend of mine just put in 1 new rod, and piston, and it was fine. Basically what i am saying is have the crank checked. Usually when this happens the block looks too rough to risk. Dont go into it thinking piston, and rod only....
actually my rod was bent worse than that but didn't break.. i was going maybe 15mph in a pulle about 1 1/2 deep (feet) just stalled...
don't forget to change your o2 sensors .. when you fix it... took me 2 days to find out why my car was slow as ****.. never threw a code but cracked the end element...
