hydrolock
It was raining most of the day, and my friend ran over a puddle. Funny things is it wasnt even that deep. His car shut off 15 seconds later while trying to go up a steep driveway into a parkinglot, he tried to start it 2 times after and it would not start...it would only turn over almost start and die. We took out the spark plugs and they were little drops of water inside the spark plugs.
Under these circumstances how bad do you think it is? We plan on getting a 3/8 hose and hooking it up to a wet dry vac and sucking out the water and then putting the plugs back in and then try to start it. Is it bad to leave the moisture in there overnight?

wouldn't be real bad to leave moisture in overnight.
However, I would recommend clearing water out of cylinders, cleaning plugs, cap/rotor and changing oil due to unknown amount of moisture in crankcase.
After all this, crankover and see what you get...
Also, easier way of clearing cylinders of moisture is to pull plugs and spray compressed air into cylinders which will blow water out, then I would suggest possibly dropping about a teaspoon of oil into each cylinder to help seal the washed down rings before reinstalling plugs and cranking.
Let me know what your outcome is...

we just took out the fuel/igntion fuse and turned it over a coupe of times and it was turning over. Does that mean the rods are okay? We looked in the combustion chamber by flashing a spark plug in the spark plug whole and could see a little moisture on the pistons.
we just sprayed the pistons with compresses air. There was a lot of water in piston number one. Seemed to get most of it out. My ? is how will we know if the rod it bent?

Do a compression test.

Water got in the engine and got the plugs wet, but I don't think it was hydrolocked as it wouldn't have continued to run for 15 seconds. It would have died immediately.
Dry out the cylinders and I would change the oil and then start the car. It may run rough but it should be fine.
Cheers,
Sean

We just put the plugs back in and put the fuel/ignition fuse back and it started up fine. I then drove around and it seemed to be running good. We then did a compression check
Piston one 215psi (most water found)
Piston two 205psi
Piston three 200psi
Piston four 220psi
Similar numbers compared to the last time i did a compression check which was last friday.
Just changed the oil and going to be purchasing new spark plugs soon
Thanks for all the help guys this was a close call
