Hub removal.....HELP!
How the hell do I remove the hub from my preludes suspension? I have the rotor and caliper off, but I can't figure out how to get the damm hub off. I need to replace my wheel studs.
The hub seems to be pressed on, but I don't want to damage the wheel bearing in the removal process. The Helm is sort of vague, says to use 'special tool' for removal and a press. Do I have to remove the whole knuckle/hub assembly and take to a press? Can I get away with a gear puller instead?

i had the same problem with my 95 ex civic. took it to my cousins shop they just took a hammer and smacked the side of the joint to open the gap up a little bit and force takes it off the rest.
Thanks for the replies, but it's still not coming off. I beat the living **** out of it and still will not budge. I need to know if I have to get it pressed out or not, specifically the prelude hub. Anyone?
The bearings are going to break taking it off most likely, no matter what. Take the whole assembly off...upper and lower joints and steering knuckle and take it to a machine shop and let them pull it apart. You might find a spot though that you can get the new lugs in and out without pulling the thing off at all. I know we did it on a 91 crx.....Mike
Yep, you'll need a new wheel bearing by the time you are done. On a Civic/CRX anyway, the inner race of the wheel bearing is split and when the hub comes out, 1/2 the inner race does too - stuck on the hub. Fun times.

Thanks! I cannot get the lugs out without removing the hub. There is no clearance. I have a broken lug that has over an inch missing and I can't even bang that one out now, with everything else removed. I was fearing having to remove the whole knuckle assembly but it looks like I have to. I had no idea a broken lug was this complicated! Thanks guys...
