HP loss from Crank to the Wheels
So I am looking to see if anyone can provide any info on how much Horse Power is lost from the engine crank to the wheels during power transfer. I always figures it would be between 10-15% or so. Any body have any idea? Also any idea on weight lost to HP gains...for example i've heard that about every 7Lbs you shed off your car you can gain 1HP. Just looking for someone to shed some light on this. Thanks!
It depends on almost every part of your motor and drivetrain, from your spark to your brakes because more torque and/or less resistance equals less power loss. If you want to see this ratio on a stock, brand new car, just compare the advertised HP numbers to a dyno whp test of the same, stock, brand new car.
