how to tell if engine is stolen or not
ok. this kid wants to sell me a short block. he says its legit, but i dont know him and he doesnt have papers. i looked at the block but dont see any vin#s on it. he says its a 2000 si b16a2(which the designation states) block. shouldnt this have a vin plate on the back of it? if not do the serial #s below the engine designation(sp?) tell you anything? all this alone leads me to believe its not legit. but for future reference any info on this would be appreciated.
I concur, should be like a green or yellow peice of metal that looks like it is riveted to the block, on the ridge above the oil pan.
Those aren't really rivets though, and can be removed, so if it is removed, the motor is hot and don't buy it.

no im not selling the ls. so the numbers under the designation mean nothing?
the only way to tell is the vinplate above the oil pan.
