while at a meet last night sum guy was sayin that i have a gen2. head on my b16...i bought the car with the swap so i dont know exactly...now someone told me that if it was a gen 2 it would have p30 stamped between the dizzy and vtec solenoid...mine is stamped with just the number 30...and on the exhaust side it is stamped pr3-1...so im still thinkin it is a gen.1...the only reason im aksing is because i recently got the head fully built with supertech valvetrain and sk2s2 cams...and i didnt find out till later that the 1st gen LMAs were too small for high lift cams...
so i just wanna know if i have a gen 1 or 2 before i go and rip the head apart again....thanks

PR3-1 only means it's a PR3 head, the final digit doesn't mean anything.

 

i see...so how can i distinguish the 1st gen from the 2nd gen?

 

look at the year of the head

 

or just replace the LMA's and don't worry with it anymore.

 

the whole reason i ask this is so i dont have to take apart the head again...so where do i look to see what year the head is?

But the 30 stamp means that its most likely obd1 so..

 

well can a obd1 be converted to run on a obd 0 system? because i bought the car with the swap and the previous owner did all the wiring...because everything else is pointing to it being a 2nd gen head...well at least i dont have to swap out the LMAs now

 

all youd needa do is change dizzy's.......
