how safe is daily driving with a cage?
how safe is daily driving with a cage?
6 pt. roll cage, proper harnesses, proper seat, proper padding?
is that hands down better for daily driving (no helmet)???
the cars that im looking at do not have an airbag and i would like to save my face and life
i know that it is a complete no no having a harness w/o a roll bar etc.
what r ur thoughts

Well, the harness isn't going to hold your head in really. I'd maybe go with a rollbar, but not a cage for daily driving.
Not too safe from what I hear, your head is going to crack like an eggshell if it hits a tube helmetless
With a 5pt harness it should be perfectly safe. However, there could be a circumstance, after a accident, where you may have trouble exiting the vehicle-slim chance. The cage will definitely make the car's structure stronger.
Also depends on what your state's laws are about street driving with a harness as opposed to the DOT seatbelts. Silly, I know, but still a consideration.

Depends on your height and seat location, how the it's fabbed. Ask the fab shop.

sorry that little bit of padding does jack ****
i know people who have been knocked out WITH a helmet on when they hit the padded section of a rollbar.
its not safe to drive on the street with a full cage.

Same goes to plexiglass windows on the rear of your car, Big no no, if your passengers head were to hit that, they woudl die instantly, as for a rollcage, i did some reaserch in rollcages today, it all depends on the size fo the toobing and the hight, i see some roll cages made from 2-1/2" steel toobing, the bars are welded on the the frame of the car right above your head, it makes the frame more sturdy incase a rollover, and will protect the driver by not allowing the car to colapse on itsels say the front window were to fall out and you were still rolling, i think if you play it safe then a full roll cage is a good idea, especially if you like to street race alot and you go to the track alot, like me. and you never know **** does happen.
i have a 6 point weld in bar in my 94 dx, it has the front bars that go along side of you and the passenger. its not bad, i like it, no one has it and it really strengthins up the chassis. i would say if you want one get one, but remember there are equal and opposite reactions for your actions
in having a rollbar,
is it better to drive around w/ the harnesses on?
(even if u get trapped, u should be safe???)
regardless of legalities

if you have a bar, its safe to drive with the harness, but only with a bar.
i would personally just use the seatbelts becaus they are just easier to use.

Just wear your helmet around.

Isnt that what the harness is for, to keep you from hitting anything, i mean it does hold you down tight.
It'd be pretty hard getting people to race you on the street when they look over and see a full roll cage and a driver with a helmet on. talk about intimidation
man we used to do this stuff all the time, when we were like 16 one of my friends had a helmet so id borrow it and drive around, id rev on people theyd rev back and then i would put the helmet on, they would usually back off, it was funny as hell.
well, regarding bumping ur head on the bar (padded)...
wouldnt it be as hard/pointy enough as hitting one of the pillars??
if ur in an accident that's strong enough to move you to hit ur head, roll bar or not,
ur injured...
