How to remove VTEC ECU's need for speedo signal?
Hi, I'm new to this board, seeking info for my motorswap. I'm fitting a CRX VTEC (B16a1) engine into a Mini. Yes, into the good ol' Mini, not the new BMW MINI. My first question is on engine electronics. The CRX speedo sends a signal to the ECU, which is used in determining the moment the VTEC switches. I have the full Honda wiring harness, but not the dash, so not the speedo. I can think of two options:
1) Alter the ECU software to not need the speedo signal. But how?
2) Generate a speedo signal modifying the Mini speedo. But what signal does the ECU need?
Please feel free to add other options as well. Oh, I know fully programmable DTA systems are an option, too, but I want to stick with the Honda setup.
Thanks,
Hugo

First off, I'd like to say cool project. A B16 in a mini sounds like alot of fun.
Make sure you get some pics around!
If you run a chipped Honda ECU with Uberdata, there is a box in the menu that disables this feature. I'm sure other editing software has this, but I'm just going off what I know.
