How much does it cost to get something milled?
I have an intake mani and exhaust mani that I need milled. There are about 30 machine shops in my city and I'm going to call around and get a feel for pricing.
But from people who have already had something milled, how much were you charged for it?

So far the only shop that would give me a quote over the phone provided the following numbers:
$30 to mill my aluminum y8 intake manifold
$44-56 to mill my OBX headers depending on how badly the flange is warped
Does that sound high to anyone besides me?

dont know prices of milling but for u needing to mill an IM and EM, they must be warped preety bad. check with a straight rule to see if u really need milling. check your helms manual for service tolerance.
I called around to 3 shops where I live, 2 were $60 and one was $20. That was for a head to be decked, they did a great job too for $20.

Lol, are you calling me an unemployed loser who spends all day browsing H-T? So what if I am!
I've actually been on H-T forever, I just got 86'd a few months ago on some technicality.
Anyway, for those wondering - the intake manifold is just dinged up really bad and I want to mill it rather than smear my hondata gasket with a bunch of sealant. But I may just clean up the surface myself with a carborundum stone.
As for the header, it's a brand new OBX header for my sister's corolla. I just bought it and threw it on and the header flange is warped so bad that there is a really gnarly exhaust leak. I just need to mill and true up the flange to get a good seal.

What kind of advice is that? Header and exhaust manifold flanges are warped all the time and getting them milled at a machine shop is common practice. Why would anyone replace something that can be so easily fixed?

My guess is that the monkeys at OBX have their welders set too high and the excess heat caused the warpage.
But they might also just use really cheap flanges that don't come perfectly flat. I personally never like using laser cut flanges. CNC'd flanges are much better.
