How to measure TPS voltage?
I can't figure it out from the Helms. Do you test from the plug at the ECU, from the TPS plug, etc? I have no idea on this one and my car has been running a little funky and a lot rich. The exhaust tip was pure black when I washed the car the other night, and it stinks of "rich" when it's running. I think it's the TPS because I installed the new TB and didn't pay much attention to the TPS position. Doh!
You can measure the voltage either at the ecu or at the sensor itself. There are 3 wires going to the sensor, one is a ground, one is a 5 volt supply, and one is the signal going into the ecu. You should put the negative of your meter to ground, engine or battery then test each of the 3 wires at the tps with the other lead with the ignition "on" and the engine not running. When you find the signal wire (the one with the lowest voltage, the ground should have none and the supply is always 5 v), it should be adjusted to .45 - .50 volts at the closed position. Also, the sensor must be plugged while you're testing....
