Default How to install a block guard the proper way!?!

Ok, I know there is alot of hype and therorys going around about how to install it correctly, so I want to know the proper way since it is getting installed on monday and I need to know what to tell the guy at the shop who is doing it. I tend to belive more tword the way JG does (below the deck) but I want to know how far below the deck and where to have it tack welded in.. I know that I will have to do the block guard install before any other work is done, so I dont have to worry about that, how I will be doing it is having the block gaurd installed then haveing it bored, decked, then finaly hot tanked/acid dipped. so how far below the deck should it be installed?

btw; I am using a D16Y8 Block and a JG block gaurd

I have already taken it to a engine shop here that is the only one in my area and he says it would be best for me to find out how other people are doing it, and I have also taken it to a welding/machine shop who will be doing the welding, but they dont know either

OT:
Do not hot tank/ acid wash your block. The aluminum will not be structurally sound after this procedure. The answer is "jet washing".

For the proper installation procedures, contact the manufacturer of the block guard. You also might want to reconsider having it welded in place. This can put weak/distorted spots on the block at the weld points.
