How important is crankcase ventilation?
So i just bought a b20/vtec longblock with a obd-0 b16 head. It doesnt look like there's any crankcase vent. My buddy is telling me that it is extremely important to have a vent, that pressure builds up inside. so how important is it? im looking at endyn's breather kit for 200 but it seems kinda pricey for something i might NOT need. any input appreciated.
Don't buy a kit. DO it yourself.
I think it is important.
On the back of the block there should be a black box. with a small rubber line running into the block just above it. On the valve cover just to the right(from front of car) of the oil filler there is a nipple coming out.

Is that the valve cover you have ?
Just put a little filter on that tube on the back side. Are you NA or boosted ? If just NA the filter should be enough to vent the pressure.

no not EVER put a filter on that fitting, connect a tube from there to the intake like factory, its there for a reason, the vacume from the intake helps draw out blowby from the head. ive never understood why some people want to put a filter on there..
