How the Hell do I remove this suspension Nut!!!
Damn, this thing is pissing me off.
In order to get the wheel bearing and hub off I have to detach the part from the steering rack...but the nut will not come off. It is a pivot joint, and all the bolt does is spin in place. I have tried wedging a tuning fork in there, but the bolt just keeps spinning, I can't think of a way to get it to stay put.....and there is no place for an allen wrench in the bottom of the bolt...Do you have any ideas, cuz I am out.
When I first did my swap I just cut the other side in half with a sawzall...but I dont want to do it to this side, I want to learn the proper procedure. Cuz, if I do decide to put the Front Si brakes on my car, I don't want to ruin the parts I need on my Hx. Who knows how much new parts will cost from honda.

Dude, those things always give me grief. When I installed my clutch and flywheel a couple weeks ago, those things took longer than any other single part to do. After a good hour and a half on wrenching on them my buddy was somehow able to get it bolted back together .. not sure how he did it but I think he wedged a screwdriver in there somehow. Strange ...
Anyother ideas!?
There is the reward for the best Idea!
Update: I got it off.....I used the tuning fork, and put a 2 foot breaker bar over it, I then proceeded to stand on the breaker bar, and then I jumped on it! After doing that for about 30 seconds the ball popped out.
It looks as if the steering arm is damaged where the ball went in though, so this must not be the right way to do things......

I wedged a big flathead screwdrivers side inbetween the nut and the arm.
it worked to remove and to install the nut.
I didnt use the ned of the screwdriver, but I used the side of the end, like half inch up from the tip.
then I kinda wedged it in there like a doorstop and kept a twisting/upwards wedge pressure on the screwdriver.
It put enough force to lock the balljoint screw in place and put downforce on the nut to remove it.
I was surprised it even worked to install that nut as well.
In the Helms manual they didn offer any special procedures, they must assume it will come off easily.. bastards... dont they think of rust!

For future reference, you need to take the pin out of the nut, take the nut off, then go to pepboys or kragen and borrow a ball joint separator, it has clamping arms and a bolt that will push the joint out. Or you can do it the crude 5 sec way, take the nut off, screw it back on 3/4 of the way, take a big hammer and hit up, comes off in one or two strikes.
Actually, you're supposed to remove the pin, nut and whack the casting that protrudes from the arms to free the bolt, you can tell where to hit it because they just stick out past the ball joint mounts on the arms. I was going to suggest tightening the nut then loosening it until it comes off then hit the casting on the knuckle. Next time.....
heh heh you guys are dorks.
he wants to know how to remove the nut from the balljoint bolt.
