how to find code from check engine light
You have to short the service connector, then turn the key forward & the MIL will blink a number of times. If you don't know where the service connector is, a search will turn up the location for you. If you don't have a manual, post the code once you pull it & someone will tell you what it's for.
Can anyone explain how to check the code from a check engine light.

I have a b16 head, and I tried to take the iac valve from my gsr head and put it on my engine, and the check engine light went away but my engine started making a real bad popping noise. So I put the old one on and the noise went away but the check engine light is on again. Does anybody have any suggestions on what to look for. My mechanic said to look for a vacuum leak, but I can't find any. This happened last night after I had driven my car for about 30. Now it comes on right away.

im pretty sure if you had a vacuum leak your idle would be going nutz.. like rising and falling rapidly non stop. my friends integra had a vacuum leak and it did this and we found one of the hoses was loose. we tightened it back on and it went away instantly .. im not entirely sure about this but im allmost positive.
I cant find a vacuum leak anywhere, I have no clue what it could be. any help would be appreciated from someone who has had this problem before or maybe from someone who had this code thrown on their car.
idle air control valve! Maybe its defective or unplugged or something.Play with it and try 2 erase the code and see if it comes back. You can do that by using a scan tool or simply by unhooking your car battery for a efw minutes then hooking it back up.
