how do I replace the cv boot next to the rotor.
I believe you are referring to the wheel side and not the tranny side. Anyway, get a punch (available at auto store/walmart $5/set) and a heavy mallet. Stick the center puch in the little divet in the middle of the axle (where the axle nut goes), and knock the **** out of it. A big hammer/mallet and persistance will have it out in less than 5 mins. If you're pecking at it with a household hammer, good luck.
or you could just do what I did. Screw the axle nut flat on the threads and 1 hit with a 30 pound sledge will get it out. BTW most rebuilt axles come with a brand new axle nut so I wouldn't worry about messing it up
