How do I remove crank bolt without pulley installed
I am rebuilding my engine and I have the crank bolt installed so I could rotate the engine during the process. I am following a book on how to rebuild b series engines and the author has done the same thing. I set my engine to TDC and now it's time to take the bolt off and get my cam gears and timing belt on. I cannot get the bolt off for the life of me. The crank keeps rotating with it.
I've gotten it off before by using a lot of force real quick but now it seems the bolt it's tighter then before, and the crank is moving much easier with the rotation of the ratchet. What can I do?!! I need to get this off while leaving the engine at TDC.
I appreciate any and all help.

Hmm you can wrap the post with a rag so you dont damage it and use channel locks to hold it or have somebody hold it while you turn it.
I figured it out. I put the flywheel On and put a small driver through one of the holes and wedged it against the oil pan. I might have damaged the threads on the flywheel because now it's difficult to thread the screw
Oh well problems solved!!

I installed two flywheel bolts and use a big screwdriver with a shop towel around it. Worked like a charm. Did the same thing to tighten the pulley bolt when it was on the stand till it broke my giant screwdriver in half lmao.
