how do I identify a ecu without O.E sticker tag?
94 gsr- assuming it has a p72. ECU has no I.D and the car runs like crap..secondaries do open up, but its not running like it used to. story is..i swaped out for a chiped p28..ran like *** of course.then swapped back to a stock one from same guy but is un Id'd all black and no sticker. any suggestions will suffice..oh and no i cant talk to the guy. cuz he well..dead.
oh..did a search...not to my advantage..i want to see if anything inside the ecu will give me info before i take it apart, like a tag ot sumthin.
first off, what year is your car ? and what year/type of ecu is it suppose to be?
have you removed the ecu cover at all?
if you have removed the cover, see if there's a secondary board on it, as seen here:

if you see this board (knock sensor board), this means the ecu is a genuine DOHC VTEC ecu.
if it doesn't have that board, look for the black transistors pointed out in the '5-speed' section of this image:

if it has those transistors, then it is a VTEC ecu for sure.
