How to deal with broken pulley bolt?
Nothing ever goes right! I left my rachet on the crank pulley and started the
engine and broke the bolt right off the pulley. How can I remove the piece
that is still screwed in the pulley? Any suggestions, besides I'm screwed?

get a real real real real real real real real real good drill bit and a drill and then drill that **** out....then re-thread it.......should be lots of fun!

Hardware Store and Lumber yard bits won't work. Buy good 7% cobalt or an industrial carbide bits designed for drilling out broken bolts. Don't try to drill out the entire bolt. Center the drill carefully, leave enough bolt to grip and "ez out", since the bolt is broken off it should no longer be tight. If you try to completely drill it out you'll probably ruin the nose of the crankshaft. I'd drill first with an 1/8" dia bit then a 1/4" or 3/8" dia bit.

I pity you. Weld the head back on then sell the car, fast. Prefferaby out of state. Seriously, I hope I never have to deal with that problem. Its a nightmare to get out WITH a good head on it. I honestly don't know how it could come out short of drilling it out and rethreading due to the fact of the tourge that was on it alone. Like the saying goes, " there but for the grace of god go I". I've done the same thing but it spit out the ratchet instead of breaking off the bolt.
