Default horrible electrical gremlins... please help!

ok... kindof long here but i have run out of ideas for what else to do and could really use some help. i have a 92 cx hatch with a b18c5 swap.. after the swap, everything was working great for a few days, then the car started misfiring at more than 25% throttle, with erratic tach movements. i put in brand new coil, igniter, cap, rotor, plugs and wires, and the problem didnt stop. i also swapped on a friends distributor, but that didnt help either.

then the car would start randomly dying when i was driving, vafc shutting off completely or flickering and all gauges going to zero with the battery light coming on. directly after this it died for good, and i couldnt hear the fuel pump coming on when the key was turned to on, so i put in a brand new main relay, but that didnt help either. now when i turn the key to the on position, the vafc doesnt even turn on to its startup screen, the fuel pump doesnt start, and i can hear sort of a quiet crackling sound from the main relay (which is brand new). the car will turn over, but not start at all. all the accessories work - radio, headlights, etc.

i havent checked the fuel pump yet, but that wouldnt cause the vafc to not turn on at all would it? any more specific things i should check, or do i just have one miserable wire god knows where shorting out?

ughhh...

any help would be appreciated

Maybe a problem with the ignition switch itself? Or connections in the main fuse box?

I had a 92 ex that had similar problems, we replaced the distributor and the ignition switch and it sorted everything out. Or maybe its not elictrical gremlins, perhaps the gnomes did it.

long shot but check the connections at the VSS. Also check all your grounds and the connections/pins at the ECU...all it takes is one wire to become a little loose and youll have problems.
