Horn Switch??
My horn stop working two weeks ago, I need to pass inspection this week, I tested my horn relay coil and its showing 100 ohms, I bypassed the switch at the connector and the horn worked, i thought it was the relay, so i bought one from honda today and replace it and it was not the relay, So i printed out a troubleshooting diagram from AllData at work, and it shows that the cable reel is the issue, now all i want to do is bypass the switch so the horn works for inspection and i dont' need to replace the cable reel. So i think i need to just run two wire from the steering wheel postive and negtive to the horn in the front bumper. Will this work? Sorry the the long post.. Thanks for your help.
How your horn is wired is not with two wires but one at the horn in the steering wheel. The positive is already run for you.
You need to correct the negative side of it. Inside the steering wheel there is one wire with a connector on it. What happens if you touch that connector to the metal on the steering wheel. I am going to assume nothing. so then you have to use a 17mm socket to remove the S-wheel. On the back side of the S-wheel there should be a metal tab that is the contact for the horn. Is that missing?
This tab is probably your problem. If you can get that tab to work then the rest is easy. You can use a jumper wire to test the rest by attaching one end to a ground and the other end to the copper ring that you will see when you remove the S-wheel.
Try these and come on back and let us know and we will give more steps.
Also when you remove the S-wheel make sure it is straight so you can put it back on the same place.
