Honing the cylinders.....
when you hone the cylinders, dont do it too long cause you are actually increasing the bore a little...when doing this, make sure you use oil to lube the cutting process. after doing this, your gonna have to get your block cleaned out of any metal shavings by hosing the bare block down with water...then dry it right after and wipe it down with wd-40 to keep it from rusting.

The hone should be 3 stones on a spring loaded arm with a shank for a drill. Keep the hone moving up and down to create a crosshatch pattern and smooth out imperfections in the cylinder. It needs a consistent oil coating or it may scar the cylinder, requiring to hone more. You need to use a micrometer to measure cyl diameter to see if it's still within specs. If its too large you will need to bore and get new pistons
take it to a machine shop! - yes, you can do it yourself, but the open deck honda cylinders are difficult to hone perfectly round, even with a machine - the closer you can get to perfectly round, the less leakdown you will have - less leakdown = more horsepower.

If you want to do it right, have a shoppe do it in a boring machine. The finished pattern should look like a X pattern on the cylinder walls. It needs to be done in several incremental steps, do not try and take all material off at once. Use a In and out motion, like your f*cking the cylinder. And please make sure the block is cleaned, including all oil passages.
