Honing ?? CTR pistons to be added to B16a2
I have a B16a2 w/ 70,000 miles on it. I want to add some standard size CTR pistons in it, but don't want to pull the bock to use the .25mm overbore ones.
Will I have to hone the cylinder walls, if so is this possible w/the block in the car??
What will I need to do it?? Will the new pistons and rings still seal tight in a 70,000 mile engine??

You must mic the block to make sure the tolerances are within spec, if they are honing with the block in the car is possible. If would pull the block to do it so it could be cleaned. If the block isnt within spec it will have to be bored.

yup, gotta make sure the cylindars are true if not you will need to bore over. if they are you can just hone it in the engine bay and install from there.

By "mic" you mean, a micrometer?? Can I find all this info and procedures in my Helms??
Where did you guys get the honing equipment from, and how hard is it to do for the first time?? I just want to know, just in case I have to do it.
Thanks

all you need is a berry brush and an electric or air drill and just go up and down real fast in the cylinders, then clean them with a lubricant. as far as the mic goes, its a fairly expensive tool, we have one at work but I dont know where to get them or what they cost. If I were you Id just pull the block out cause that way everything will get done properly.

Well I want to eliminate as much down time as possible. So I'd like to leave the block in place. As for the berry brush, where can I get one of those?? Regular auto parts store?? Thanks
