Default to hone or not to hone

i have a '00 Si and i picked up some CTR pistons with rings (both new) and i was going to put them in my b16 but was wondering if you need to get a hone even if the block has been running and never taken apart?

i was under the impression that a hone only had to be done if a block was taken apart then sat for a while but just want to make sure, thanks for any input

im no expert but never being open has nothing to do with whether or not you have to re-hone the cylinder walls

if u can still see the factory cross-hatching & there isnt any damage to the walls than ur good

I'd rehone for proper ring seating. Even if the factory cross hatch is still there it isn't rough enough to file the rings properly.

re-hone! new rings won't break in without it. you can pull an enging apart after 100k and still see crosshatching, but it doesn't mean that the new rings will seat with that.

i would check for egg shaping first.
new rings can be put on onld cylinders if thecrosshatch is still very visible with no flat spots. wich is rare
