Hondata vs V-AFC

I am planning on doing a pretty mild N/A buildup next year (R cams, CTR pistons) and I was going to just use Hondata S100 for engine management, paired with Prelude 290 cc injectors.
However someone told me that this would be excessive for my setup. I think he might be right but considering that the prices would be about the same, I would prefer the extra tunability (like complete control over timing and fuel maps) so it will drive like stock and make smoother power. Am I completely out of line here? Should I just go with the V-AFC? Comments welcome..

Re: Hondata vs V-AFC (Cow)
Well, since you know what each one does obviously since you know that the Hondata offers the extra tunability.....

My opion is:

Since they are roughly the same price, I would go with the Hondata. Although the Hondata will end up costing you more because it must be tuned by a Hondata dealer (or a tuner with the software). But on the other hand, to get the most out of the V-AFC, you should get it tuned by a pro anyway. So, there is not much of a difference there.. but if you want to take shortcuts, go with the V-AFC because you you CAN tune it yourself (not to say that V-AFC means you are taking short cuts... if this is definitely all you intend to do.... go for the V-AFC and get it tuned).

Also... if you are new to performance moding, you will find that you will start to develop a bug. A bug for power. An itch that you must scratch.... people are RARELY satisfied witht the power they have.... you can always us more. And because of this, the Hondata would be much better to have. alowing you to go from a mild to wild set up if you start to feel the bug too. That way you don't have to mod you fuel management twice, when that presous extra money could be spend somewere else.

But hey, that's just me... I have the bug. I don't even have my engine (see sig) in yet and I'm already planning and trying to come up with the finances for my next mod.

And as I stated to start off... that is just my opinion.

Good luck and have fun!

Re: Hondata vs V-AFC (Cow)
go with hondata, the afc allows for tuning, but not that much, running ctr pistons will raise your compression, and you will want to compensate for that with better timing and fuel control, plus hondata you can raise your rev limit, afc i think okay with say bolt ons, but once you mess with internals you need more tunability
