I dont believe my car (honda civic si) is runnin to the fullest potential due to past races. I raced my buddies 95 civic ex n he kept up to me . My mods r cold air intake n muffler. HIs was catback exhaust n cold air. This race was done on the highway n he kept up to me side by side samething happened wit a 93 integra gs wit short ram intake n catback exhaust.

What could be wrong wit my engine?

If you're comparing the 92-95 Civic Si's to your friend's 92-95 Civic EX, it's b/c they both have the same engine. Maybe that's why he's keeping up with you.

 

yeah what year is it...... and another thing people dont take care to note is how important driving skill is even in the 1/4 mile... if your a bad driver and your driving a car that says it runs 15s stock youll probably run like mid 16s...

my buddy beat my other friends 99 civic si in a crx dx with intake.... but that was not from a rolling start... donno man, good luck findin the prob

 

i used to beat my friends 2000 si all day long in my 91 integra ls...he had an i/e and i had i/h/c/e. then when he got his skunk 2 intake manifold and his header he was much faster and he would beat an ls good with no problems. si's arent all that great in stock form but once you get more bolt ons itll get better then just go from there.

 

i can't say for sure but i bet you its the cat back. After i swapped the b18c into my car it ran pretty damn fast on the streets but, once I got to the highway it felt very weak. As soon as I upgraded to 2.5 cat back the high end was finally freed up. I do believe my stock piping is a lot smaller than yours though (i have a cx). Also do you have a system , did you have passengers, etc that can weigh your car down? Your si is pretty damn heavy, sometimes I think honda made a wrong choice to put that engine in the coupe b/c of the weight.

 

Let me break it down to you a civic cuope ex weighs in at 2380 lbs with a/c and all the trimmings right? Well it puts out like 110 hp and 98 lbs o tq ..yours weighs a bit on the heavy side at about 2700 with all the trimmings with the torque bieng the same at about 105 maybe on a good day. So theres your answer! He has the extra advantage over an Si by far with the cat he has his probably almost walking away from the Si its the TORQUE you need more upgrades and less wieght! You need a liitle more power adders to make up the weight difference!
