Honda Approved Fluids
I've notice on forums for other makes, for example there's a list of "VW/Audi" approved oils to use.
Is there such a list for Honda? I did a search and found nothing.

I don't remember seeing one all in one place, so maybe this will become the list you're looking for.
A couple vehicles aren't really Hondas, so this doesn't apply. For example the Passport SUV is really an Isuzu.
Too many different engine oils, & different needs over the years. Strong opinions too, so lets not turn this into a flame war...
As far as I know, here's the special needs:
Power steering fluid:
Hondas use their own type, incompatible with others. Genuine stuff from the dealer isn't stupid expensive, so that's a good choice. If you have to go elsewhere, make sure it says "FOR HONDA & ACURA". Don't believe anything that says "all makes & all models".
Automatic transmission fluid:
Genuine stuff is the choice here, too. Although it seems to be compatible with Dexron III, the Honda-brand stuff works better.
Manual transmission fluid:
Honda MTF is good stuff. Before it existed (about 1997) Honda called for 10w-30 engine oil in their manual trannys. Honda MTF is completely compatible for those trannys, arguably better than engine oil.
Brake fluid:
DOT-3 is the requirement, lots of brands are available everywhere.
DOT-4 has higher boiling points but otherwise is fully compatible with DOT-3, so that's also good.
DOT-5 is silicone-based fluid, it's not real easy to find. DON'T USE DOT-5.
DOT-5.1 is poly-glycol based (like DOT-3 & 4) & it's often labeled as DOT-4 (example Valvoline SynPower). It's OK.
After we build this thread into something useful then we can argue to get it stickied at the top of the forum.

This is what I found on the VW site, for the Jetta.
This list specifies brands, type, and viscosity.
Just wondering if there was one for Honda.

OK, maybe I get it now. VW/Audi has some requirements for their TDI engines that go above & beyond the normal API specs. Saab does something similar with their GM-LL-025 spec. As far as I know, Honda doesn't do that. They're OK with API SM or whatever is the current spec. Apparently Honda didn't invent something more limiting than API.
