Default Hole on oil pan=blown engine?

My friend was driving my CRX on the way to pick me up, when he got to the train station he said that my engine was making funny noises, I looked under the hood and everything looked fine when I looked at the oil pan I saw a hole about 1/2 diameter and it looks that something hit it form the inside. the hole is located on the upper front part of the oil pan, the engine starts but it is really loud, there is not check engine light or ECU flashes, the only thing that lighted up was the oil light but i guess it is because the oil level is low. The engine is a ZC with 59000kms.
Any help or ideas will be appreciated, thanks!

You could have hit something while driving or a rock shot up and hit it.

engine is fine. I had my header rub a hole in my oil pan once, major smoke was coming from bottom of car for a while before I figured it out. Just re-weld oil pan or buy new one and you'll be okay, as long as you didin't drive it too long without enough oil in the car.

Any loud clanking noises?

Maybe you lost a connecting rod nut at high rpm and knocked a dent/hole in the pan.

If the sound is pre-dominantly from the bottom of the engine you should look into pulling the pan to see if anything came loose.

Yeah, usually

Certainly if you ran it like that.

Maybe you did lose a connecting rod nut. Opening up clearances on a rod might drop the pressure low enough to turn on the dummy light.

Better get ta lookin'.

Dont drive it!!!!!!!! your buddy prolly bottomed out the oilpan into the oil pickup. If the oil light is on and the engine is running then engine damage WILL occur. Connecting rod nuts just dont come loose if the engine wasnt taken apart previously...........Or it threw a rod but didnt come through the block (prolly not tha case)
