Default high speed shaking

I know this is a pretty common problem among older cars. My car is a 93 hatch, and when ever im cruising at around 80mph steering wheels shakes. Some times it bothers me and sometimes it doesnt, but im just wandering what needs to be replaced to fix this problem?

well ive just purchased brand new rims and tires about a week ago, so i doubt it could be them. Ive heard that it may be the tie-rod ends, but im not 100% sure thats the problem.

if your still shaking then your tires are not balanced properly. Also if your braking and your shaking after the wheels have been balanced properly then your rotors are probably warped

It could be a loose ball joint somewhere. Lift the car, grab a wheel, & try to move it. If there's any looseness you've gotta find WHERE it's loose.

Try moving the wheel like you're 'steering' it. If it moves this way it might be the ball joint at the end of the steering rack. If it's loose up&down then maybe upper or lower ball joints. Either way it could also be a loose wheel bearing.

if it is a ball joint get that taken care of asap. my friend hada bad ball joint and everntually the the whole sterring knuckle fell of and the wheel fell outward. you know what it might be also the tires might be on going in the wrong direction if you have direction tires. theres an arrow on the sidewall that pints in the direction the wheel is supposed to spin. maybe that might help
