Default high flow cat converter or test pipe

Ok so there is no emissions testing in ohio. I am running a header and just bought invidia exhaust. I would like to either run a test pipe or buy a high flow converter. Do the high flow converters make much difference. I don't want my car to be loud as ***** b/c it will be my daily as well as some autox. Has anyone had any luck or bad luck with any certain converters on ebay or anywhere else. It seems they vary in price and I don't need to spend an arm and leg if possible. Thanks!

I'd suggest picking up a high-flow cat from http://sms-products.com.

it's up to you. do you want to do you part to pollute the atmosphere or not?

really, there is no other reason to run one, though a cat will deaden the exhaust tone a bit. i don't care what anyone says, running a test pipe, if it's properly sized and doesn't inhibit flow, is better than running a cat, unless the exhaust/ header are not matched to the engine setup, then i'd believe you might see some slight tq gains.

if you do decide to get one, X2 getting an smsp unit.

i've not run a cat in my 97 hatch since 1999 and we do have strict inspection ; )

I honestly dont believe a high flow cat does much to prevent much pollution. I have a high flow cat on mine and it doesnt do crap in my opinion. Just makes it look legal if anyone checks.

i think you'd be surprised if you got it emissions tested vs. no cat at all, but hey, i agree, no cat ftw ; )
