If I broke a connecting rod on my '96 GSR, will the car run and idle as normal-can it even start up??

it'll just run on the other 3 cylinders and a loud noise.

 

a lot of vibrations, just like if one piston is not working

 

dont run it, you could damage your crank. as well as cylinder walls.

 

i have an old dodge colt and the bottom of the rod came off and the crank physically knocked the rod off...but the car ran home on 3cyl

I WOULD NOT run the engine.

With a broken rod, you coult seriously **** up your block, crank, possibly poke a hole through your block girdle and oil pan (depending on where the break was in the rod) and otherwise do a lot of damage.

Even at a "low" rpm of 2000 or so, it is still spinning too fast to be safe and not screw things up...

Couldnt be half as good as the original. That movie is on the top of my list of all time.
