hey guys tdc question
when the cam is set so that the markings are even with the head my cam slot should be facing up and down right guys?what i mean is the side with the dizzy should have the slots facing up and down correct.
i know that if you're looking at the cam gears, both arrows (assuming its dohc) will be pointing up. also the 2 marks on each gear will align with eachother to form a horizontal line.
The keyway slot on the intake cam faces up and down when cylinders #1 and #4 are at TDC.
The keyway slot on the cam is asymmetrical tho, allowing the distributor keyway to key into it ONLY one way. I forget which side the fat part of the keyway slot falls on with the cam gears set to TDC #1 tho.
To make sure everything is in order, set the cam gears to TDC #1 (UP arrows facing up), make sure the horizontal marks line up with the rear timing belt cover, set the distributor rotor to the #1 wire, and it should key in with little effort.
