Default here's the deal....

i bought a block

one face of it is painted yellow

how can i take it off? i have heard of that "air plane stripper" or something like that, so need to know what strength or remover is good to use? what is the best way? thanks

Just goto home depot. get the aircraft stripper there. its the only one, and its the right one.

aircraft stripper seems like it would be hard to use on a block, because the scraping part of it...blocks aren't flat

If you are at Home Depot. Anything labeled Jasco will **** **** up. Wear protective gloves, it'll work great. I used I.D. Orange. Its the degreaser at work. You can feel it in your lungs. Its bad too. After that I used the steam cleaner on it. That made it pretty good, but there was still some crust. So I threw it in the parts cleaner and went over it once more with steam. Now my block almost matches the brand new oil pump.
