HELP transmission problem
I got in my car this morning and started it, the car was still in gear and the e-brake was on. My foot slipped off the clutch pedal and there was a loud clunck. Now the car will not move and is making a spinning noise from the drive's side of the engine bay.
The car is a 97 civic dx. I didn't have a chance to look at it this morning (already late for work) so any suggestions are helpful.

So do we. Take a look & tell us what's spinning & what's not. If you busted the guts out of the CV joint, then the axle would spin but the wheel wouldn't. If the axle itself broke (?) then it would be flailing around making hammering noises.
Either way, you probably need a new axle assembly.

seems pretty unlikely that a non-VTEC D series motor would be an axle buster.
Sounds to me like something in the clutch assembly failed. If you popped a spring out the hub, it may be lodged between the disc and the pressure plate and preventing them from making contact. What kind of clutch is it? Stock?

I said it was unlikely, not impossible. Aren't Ford Asipe axels just old mop handles anyway?
