Default HELP with shift forks/linkage!!

I have a 89' crx si with a D16A8 swap but the tranny is the original L3 tranny. I need some help because its really hard to get it into gear and just today it got stuck in 1st even though the shifter was in neutral. My brother has a DSM and he says that it happened to him and all he did was adjust the shift linkage and fixed the fork and it worked. My qusetion is, is it possible to adjust the linkage and fork or what would i have to do?

Has the shifter bushings been replaced???

The car is almost 20 years old, and they are known to be a problem. Usually a sloppy shift lever when in gear.

As far as getting stick in first, THAT is bad news, but you need to describe the scenario better.

alright...this is what happened. the car ran fine for months then last week while just sitting there at idle the tranny made a kinda bad noise and then made a continues grinding noise, then it all of a sudden turned off on its own. then i started it up again but when i lifted my foot off the clutch it stalled out on its own even though it was in neutral. i tried messing with it and tried to see if it would go into reverse but nothing worked and it still would stall out if i lifted the clutch.

I'll go with exploded diff or spider gear, or shifter fork piece broke off.

Yea my brother said maybe shifter fork is broken but i went under the car yesterday and its still intact so i think im gonna go with blown gear so i figure im just gonna swap trannys. probably the best solution. thanks dude.

Shifter forks are INSIDE the tranny, you can't just get under the car and look at them.

well the linkage is fine...but either way if the fork is broken then the tranny still needs to be replaced, right?
