HELP - the rim that ran away!! :(
ok, to add to my injuries...
i check my car now (after i replaced the rotors) and there's this gooey green/black fluid near the joint, and all over the rims...near the rotors, what the hell is that??
anyone know? it's like brake fluid or something.

Green is generally anit-freeze. You either have a leak, overflow, or picked some gunk off the road (if you are lucky). But since you say gooey black. It may be grease from a blown CV joint.

can i fix it myself or can i just take it to a shop? anyone know how much it would take?

Put in another axle. Replacing the boot isn't easy.
Sometimes replacing the boot is only a bandaid fix. Just go down to the local parts place and pick up an axle. It will save you time and maybe another headache down the road.
